Icebreaker

I’m just trying to overcompensate for being average. Often, I’m half-asleep and writing about made-up feelings.

My goal, really, is to be less of an idiot.

  1. That last line is hilarious! When I had a certain dating app which shall remain nameless, my bio always said “I was never cool, but I had cool friends”

    1. For very boring reasons. I’m simply trying to improve my language skills and get over my fear of posting something bad. It’s also nice way to connect with others.

  2. Lovely to meet you. It strikes me that average people with a hint of idiocy don’t write like you do nor do they possess the intelligence, both conventional and emotional, that is revealed in your writing. My best to you and yours.

  3. Have a sense of humor, do you? You’re not average, after all.
If someone says you’re an idiot, maybe they’re just projecting. You’re an intelligent lady.
Keep your sense of humor alive; the world needs humor. 😉

  5. It’s a good cover but nothing strange.
Because nothing is as it seems
    Isn’t just a phrase.
It’s a good cover to shake hands
But you know you are waiting
On your heart, its wonder and pangs

For that is what fills your pen
    The page blank
    Hanging then
    Uncovers the restless heart
    Wanting, wanting
    To cast itself abroad
    And finally know
    That it is not alone
But safe with him, her and I
    Its friends far away
    Whom it does not know
Who but hold its careful scribble
    In their two palms
    And have a glimse
    Of you
    Behind the cover
    In their own hearts.

  7. Only those who have not discovered the full potential of themselves are considered average. Each and every one of us is unique in our own way and the most difficult part is discovering our uniqueness. By the way, thank you so much for stopping by and liking my post.

  10. It’s easy to be an idiot when you’re half-asleep. It’s also easier to let things slide (off your back) when you’re that tired, too, provided you don’t become irked like a hibernating bear. I can be quite silly and less nervous/self-conscious when I am tired. But, if someone makes loud noises or pushes me to work late into the night, I feel filthy and become quite irritable.

    Made-up feelings?

    1. Yet, it’s as easy to do something really foolish with consequences that linger, too, when you are in that state of mind. It’s not so funny the next morning. And, I may not often be one of “those people” who hurt themselves, but I don’t think it’s smart to chance it, ever. So, count yourself lucky if you can be silly while sleepy and do no greater harm.

    2. Funny is in the ear/eye of the beholder. Jokes are more dangerous than they are likely to get the desired laugh. And, laughter, like the spotlight bug, is a futile path to chase. People who say they want to be with a funny person might be short-sighted, if they don’t find other elements to “round” that person.

I like being funny. But, I won’t likely be a stand-up comic as a career choice. I’ll take and give my laughs where I can. I won’t rely upon being a clown to consider myself “alive.”

  12. I can relate to that, and I’m quite on the far side of 21. Now, should one be depressed or heartened by that… in the end, being “special” is overrated and anyway, doesn’t that quality lie in the eye of the beholder? I love the way you write, no matter how special or not you feel that day. Whoever likened your posts to prose poetry is on the nose.

  17. Reminds me of the good old blogging days ( been here for over 10 years- WordPress alerted me about it today ) when people had cool “About me”s. Of course, you are young and have miles to go- and will write much more than that. But the icebreaker is pretty dope as well 🙂
