We used to be

I compromised the truth from eyes that don’t see
Now, for as long as I breathe, I won’t be able to live

How do I let go of you when my favorite songs begin and end with you?

Your scent lingers with the music.
Soft to touch, your skin laid delicately next to mine.
Our foreheads touched. You fell asleep.

I tucked our secrets tightly in the corner of your sheets, awaiting the warmth of our bodies to burn them away but only we caught aflame.

You used to be water
I used to be the sun
These kisses have drugged us
before we could run

Now you’re drowning in water
and my drought has begun

Love,  Alyazya

  1. The story, metaphors, and imagery… This is beautiful! I am definitely going to take a look at the rest of the content of this blog.
