Unsighted

Jumeirah’s Waters

You’re a picture I needed to draw my stories around back when my thoughts steered towards you.

Disapproval laments you but memories confined in a strained mind hold me back.
An image refuses to leave you behind: a gaze held, a jaw clenched. It killed me.
You asked me to breathe but my breaths overpowered me. I drowned.
You were centuries away. The speed of light couldn’t catch up to you.

You took notice of my senseless mumbling: a cascade of sounds merging with thin air.
Whispers encumbered by the weight of my feelings translate into words only for you to know.
I spoke and I spoke but I never came out. Yet, you discerned the truth in my lies.

But you were shallow water.

I understand now that I’ve always been blind. I’m always looking at people with curious eyes; trying to understand, trying to forge a feeling.

Everyone’s a blank face.

Love,  Alyazya

  1. “I’m always looking at people with curious eyes; trying to understand, trying to forge a feeling.” Loved that line, it’s so relatable, the entire thing is really. I feel like I try to make a connection with, like, 50% of people I meet lol.
